The Information and Broadcasting Minister, Dominic Fedee, says no definitive plans have been made for the future of Radio St Lucia and that all options are being left on the table. Minister Fedee says a comprehensive review of public broadcasting on the island is under way. He says the government may look at the opening of another entity or a merger with NTN. He believes that public broadcasting must play a more of an enlightening role in its programming instead of trying to compete with private media. Fedee says the number of private media houses in St Lucia have grown at a faster pace than the local economy making the media market very competitive. Advertising revenue, he said, has dwindled and affected the capacity of media houses to deliver on certain programs.
