St.Luica’s Ambassador to the OAS makes his final address

St.Lucia’s Permanent Representative to the Organization of American States has given his final address to the august body.

Michael Louis was recalled from his Washington post by the Kenny Anthony administration.

He was appointed in 2008 by the Stephenson King regime. He told the Permanent Council in Washington that his years of serving were an honour, having to represent the interest of his homeland.

The outgoing Ambassador also lauded for the OAS for steadfastly ensuring stability in the hemisphere in all aspects.

Saint Lucia’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Menissa Rambally, has taken over the Chair of the Caucus of CARICOM Permanent Representatives to the United Nations for the month of July.

The Chair of the Caucus rotates monthly among the fourteen CARICOM Ambassadors.

Ambassador Rambally said that “the opportunity to preside over the deliberations of the CARICOM group is an important duty for Saint Lucia, as it comes at the time when the region is closely involved in the negotiations at the U.N. headquarters on an Arms Trade Treaty.”

The Ambassador also noted that the CARICOM Caucus will address a number of additional key issues during the month of July including the relevant agenda items on Economic and Social Development that will be considered at the 2012 session of the UN Economic and Social Council - one of the five organs of the United Nations.
