An Indian state minister has come up with a controversial way to fight alcohol abuse The state minister in India, gave 10,000 wooden bats to newlyweds and their family members at a mass wedding ceremony for poor women on Sunday. He told CNN that alcoholism is a serious issue for the women in his district and that they have appealed to him to ban liquor. He says about half of what men earn is spent on liquor and that their wives face domestic violence as well. The bats are traditionally used for washing clothes. But now the Minister says they’re multipurpose to reform the alcoholics.
