The inaugural Roots and Soul festival under the Soleil brand got underway on Saturday and Sunday at the Pigeon Island national landmark.
The lineup of artists included Chrycee, Kayo, Fourth World and Christopher Martin. The CEO of the Events Company of Saint Lucia, Thomas Leonce, said that he was satisfied with the event, that the numbers were a lot stronger than for recent Jazz festival. The Roots and Soul festival culminated on Sunday 18th June. Local reggae artistes say next year when the event is staged, they will be looking to get a greater piece of the festival pie.
