Parents of students who attend the Mon Repos primary school recently met with the Ministry of Education to discuss plans for a merger. The Ministry is proposing that the Patience and Mon Repos schools be merged. A case has been made for such a move due to the cost of marinating the two schools amid a dwindling school population. According to the Education Ministry, there are several schools on island that have a small student population, some as small as 70 students in total. To save money on school maintenance, the Ministry is exploring mergers of schools. Parents at Mon Repos say they concerns about the cost of transportation and the change of school environment.
