The DSH project has been marred in controversy from inception. The government has met with much criticism from the opposition and a group of concerned citizens in the Vieux Fort. While there seems to be much anxiety about the possible impact of the DSH deal and whether it has significant benefit for St Lucia, one union is optimistic about the prospect of investment in the south. President General of the National Workers Union, Tyrone Maynard, says St Lucia is in dire need of jobs, particularly in the south of the island.
