The government of St Lucia has put forward a legislative agenda that will seek to improve the justice system and enhance crime fighting. New Legislation to be pursued include; a Witness Protection Bill, which seeks to protect the identity of witnesses who may be at risk should they testify and their identity be known.

  • The Electronic Monitoring Bill, which will reduce the number of persons sent to Correctional facilities on remand, particularly young offenders.
  • The Electronic Crimes Bill which is aimed at facilitating the collection of electronic evidence relating to criminal activity.

And, the Child Justice Bill which will establish a criminal justice process for children accused of committing offences. It will protect the rights of children as provided for in international conventions.
