In the news – The Police Welfare Association continues to make the case for a pay increase for police officers. President, Travis Chiquot, says police officers are dealing with extremely challenging work conditions, including lack of resources and equipment but also shoddy conditions at many police stations on island, including termite and mould infestations. He argues that it takes a great level of commitment to function under such circumstances. Furthermore, Chiquot highlights the fact that it has been 5 years since police officers received a salary increase. He says there is no question or debate about whether officers are deserving of what he considers a long overdue pay hike.
