The UWP Castries South Constituency Office has publicly commented on the ongoing DSH / Maria Islands controversy and, a media tour which took place on Sunday.
A post on the constituency’s facebook page read “We all need to be concerned about the whole south, including the people who are suffering.” The facebook post went further to quote Finance Minister Dr Ubaldus Raymond, saying that there was a media tour to Maria Islands and that it appears that Maria Islands have just been discovered. The constituency branch wrote that there are other things that must be discovered in the South, suggesting, that the media tour Bruceville and other poor communities in the South. The media was called on to interview the unemployed single mothers, the youth who have lost all hope of a bright future, and the many businesses that have closed operations for the lack of economic activity.
