The Vieux- Fort Concerned Citizens Coalition for Change (VF4Cs) is inviting all St. Lucians, from every walk of life, to a town hall meeting today Friday, May 11, 2018 at the Beanefield Secondary form 7:00 pm. to discuss the healthcare crisis that it describes as ‘a national shame.’ The group says it is in shock and disbelief about what it has read or heard on the state of public healthcare in St. Lucia. The Vieux Fort Concerned Citizens Coalition is especially troubled by recent press statements by the St. Lucia Medical and Dental Association (SLMDA) and assessments from individual doctors, which say healthcare has reached crisis state. Staff morale within the two main hospitals is said to be at an all time low. The coalition says that had these assessments come from rumour-mongers or well-known political party hacks, then their authenticity could be questioned and their comments dismissed as political mischief. But when it comes from the principal stakeholders in the delivery of the nation’s healthcare services, the coalition says, the government and citizens of St. Lucia must stop and listen.
