Within nine hours on New Year’s Day in Trinidad, the island recorded four homicides. A young man was liming with friends at a New Year’s Eve party when he was shot multiple times about midnight. An ex-police officer was chopped to death near his Chaguanas home at around 3a.m. A 59-year-old, was drinking with friends when he was involved in an argument with a man who chopped him to death. At 7 a.m. New Year’s Day, the body of a 20-year old was found with multiple gunshot wounds. And at around 9a.m. the body of another man was found with multiple gunshot wounds.
