An International Women’s Day march took place on Thursday. Catherine Sealys of Raise Your Voice St Lucia had spearheaded the March as one aimed at calling attention to the plight of women. Some argue that what it turned into was a political march. Nonetheless hundreds of women and men turned out to march the streets of Castries. They were outraged and called out the police for obstructing the march by refusing them the use of placards. According to organizers, police stepped in at the 11th hour to say that the march would not be allowed Christopher Hunte called it a significant infringement on the rights of the public.
