Saint Lucia continues to receive financial and technical support from UNESCO’s Participation Programme for the initiation of a number of developmental projects. Four agencies recently benefited from the initiative when the Saint Lucia National Commission for UNESCO held a cheque presentation ceremony totaling Two Hundred and One Thousand, Six Hundred and Fifteen EC Dollars ($201, 615).

Secretary General of UNESCO, Marcia Symphorien Laurent says the developmental projects are very important as they enhance UNESCO’s mission.

Minister for Education, Innovation, Gender Relations and Sustainable Development, Hon. Dr. Gale Rigobert expressed delight that this initiative will impact the very lives of Saint Lucians.

UNESCO provides support for activities in the field of Education, Natural Science, Social and Human Science, Culture, Communication and Technology.

Four projects received assistance from the Saint Lucia National Commission for UNESCO. The first project is the implementation of the UNESCO Global Micro-Science Experiments. The second project is for the national symposium and policy handbook on the teaching and learning of Mathematics. The third project is to produce a documentation on women in politics in Saint Lucia. The fourth project is to build local capacity in the use of Science, Technology and Innovation.
