The National Security Minister has taken the media to task for sensationalising crime. According to Minister Hermangild Francis, the media has dropped the ball on the issue. He further stated that enough positive news is not being highlighted in the local media. According to him, he is not asking for the media not to report crime – but to tone it down a little. He suggested that media coverage of crimes, seem to give criminals pleasure every time they are being highlighted in the press. Francis reiterated that he is not calling for the press to subdue or hide the facts, but to reassess the amount of focus on coverage of crime.
