The Princess Juliana International Airport in St. Maarten has reopened for commercial flights. The airport was given time, following hurricanes Irma and Maria, to get back to a suitable operational level that falls within international safety standards. The damage was severe and no quick fix could have been applied. Even as the airport reopened, it is still months away from its former glory.
