Vendors at Marigot beach say police swept down upon them and begun demolishing vending booths. Susan Beckwith who is the President of the Marigot’s Vendors association says the action was unnecessary. She says that had police informed the association, things could have been done in a more amicable manner. One tourist described it was a situation of bullying towards the vendors. She says having traveled to St Lucia multiple times, the ambience on the Marigot beach is being helped by the local vendors, who she says give a real taste and feel of the island vibes. She says the presence of the vendors is needed and they should not be chased away or dealt with a manner that suggests that they are less than human.
