The Saint Lucia government says it has launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the appointment of the late Saudi Arabian billionaire, Walid Juffali, as a St Lucian diplomat. During the debate on the Estimates of Revenue and Expenditure, Prime Minister Allen Chastanet, criticized Dr Ernest Hilaire, for raising questions about government’s Citizen by Investment Programme. The Prime Minister said he had hoped that Dr Hilaire would have learned to stay away from that topic. He announced that the investigation to uncover the facts surrounding Dr Juffali’s appointment is ongoing. Dr Hilaire has called a press conference scheduled to begin at 11am today.
